If you're like me, probably not. But I bet your toddler is!
My one year old loves holding my phone and pretending to talk on it (read: smushing it against her face and baby babbling). She even kisses the screen when she sees pictures of herself! She's not quite at the stage when a cartoon or a game can aid in distracting her in public but this is a start, so kiss away I say!
My three year old, however, is much more.. what's the word.. savvy. She knows how to swipe the screen to unlock it, open the apps, make calls, play games, take pictures, etc. I finally downloaded an app that is designed to lock down the rest of the phone and keep her locked in the app amongst a plethora of games, puzzles, drawing, e-books and videos for FREE! Of course there is a premium membership that opens up quite a bit more but free is free and that's fine for me! OH! They also send me a weekly e-mail with her drawings and her stats in the app!
The only way to exit the app is by drawing the letter Z on the main screen. Well guess who figured that out? Yea. Dang preschool learning. And guess who spent the better part of an hour uninstalling apps on my phone and apologizing for the incoherent text messages once she exited her fun app? Yea. It could have been worse, though. At least she didn't buy a car on EBay!
How do you rate in the Mom vs Toddler Smartphone Battle?
Clearly, I'm losing.
